Standing (qiyam) and intention
Face the qiblah, make your intention in the heart and begin. The intention is not spoken aloud in the majority position.
AQLC / Prayer
How to pray, step by step, with the conditions and pillars, what invalidates a prayer, the sunnah prayers, and a tracker for your own record.
Step by step
Nine stages from the intention to the closing salam.
Before you begin
Purification
Wudu is the ordinary preparation: hands, mouth, nose, face, arms to the elbows, head, ears, and feet to the ankles — performed in order, in one sitting.
Ghusl is required after major impurity. Tayammum is the substitute with clean earth when water is unavailable or harmful.
The stages
Each stage is a pillar or an obligation the prayer depends on.
Face the qiblah, make your intention in the heart and begin. The intention is not spoken aloud in the majority position.
Raise the hands and say "Allahu akbar". This is the moment the prayer begins and ordinary speech becomes impermissible.
Al-Fatihah, then a portion of the Qur'an where the prayer calls for it.
Bow with a flat back, hands on the knees, saying "Subhana Rabbiyal-'Adhim".
Rise and say "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah"; then "Rabbana wa lakal-hamd".
Seven parts of the body touch the ground: forehead with nose, both palms, both knees, the toes. Say "Subhana Rabbiyal-A'la".
Sit briefly and ask forgiveness; then prostrate again.
After every second rak'ah, sit and recite the tashahhud.
Send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, then close with the taslim to the right and left: "As-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah".

Your tracker
Mark each prayer as you complete it. The record is stored in this browser and never uploaded.
Beyond the five
Sunnah & nafl
Sunnah mu'akkadah and nafl prayers carry great reward. The twelve rak'at known as the sunan al-rawatib are the most consistently practised: two before Fajr, four before Dhuhr and two after, two after Maghrib, and two after Isha.
The traveller shortens the four-rak'ah prayers to two and may combine Dhuhr with Asr and Maghrib with Isha.
Janazah
Offered standing, without bowing or prostration, in four takbirs with the prescribed supplications between them. It is a communal obligation — if some of the community performs it, the obligation is met for all.
