AQLC / Practice / Calculators
Islamic calculators
Zakat, Zakat al-Fitr, Hijri dates and inheritance. Each tool states the method it uses and the point at which you should consult a scholar.
Work out what is due
The calculator applies 2.5% to net zakatable wealth above the nisab. Which nisab to use, and how debts, pensions and long-held investments are treated, are matters on which scholars differ — treat the figure as a starting point, not a ruling.
Zakat al-Fitr
Paid before the Eid prayer
Zakat al-Fitr is a fixed amount of food — approximately 2.5 to 3 kg of the staple of the country — owed by every Muslim who has food in excess of their needs on the day of Eid, paid on behalf of each dependent. Where a monetary equivalent is used, the value of that quantity in the local staple applies.
This is an estimate of the staple food value. Follow the amount your local mosque or charity publishes for your country.
Inheritance
Why AQLC does not calculate this for you
Islamic inheritance is one of the most precisely specified areas of the law — and one of the most dependent on facts a website does not have. The shares change with the presence or absence of specific relatives, with the number of sons and daughters, with the type of property, with debts and bequests, and with the difference between the schools in several cases.
A tool that produced a number would be producing a number for a family that may not match your family.
- 01Write down every surviving relative, with their relationship to the deceased.
- 02List the assets, with debts and any bequest.
- 03Note the school of law your family follows.
- 04Take all of it to a qualified scholar or an Islamic inheritance specialist.

Inheritance shares depend on facts a calculator cannot see. AQLC deliberately stops short of producing a number here.
