How to read a grading

Authentic, hasan, weak

  • 01Sahih — authentic. The chain is connected and the narrators reliable. The collections of al-Bukhari and Muslim carry the strongest position.
  • 02Hasan — good. Slightly below sahih but still acceptable as evidence.
  • 03Da'if — weak. Not a basis for legal rulings, and generally not used for aqeedah.
  • 04Mawdu' — fabricated. Rejected entirely.
A grading is a scholarly judgement, not a label on a website.
AQLC shows the collection and reference number so you can check the original. Where scholars differ on a grading, treat that difference as part of the answer rather than an inconvenience.
